Area Secretary Wanted

The Chiltern Society – Rights of Way Group

Area secretary

Are you the out-of-doors type? Do you appreciate the rights of way network throughout the Chilterns and have a keen interest in ensuring that it continues to offer everybody excellent opportunities to enjoy the countryside?

If so you may well find real pleasure and, at the same time, do the community a great service if you volunteer to become one of our Area Secretaries.

The Chiltern Society’s Rights of Way Group is one of the most active groups in the Chiltern Society and it organises its work through a team of 20 Area Secretaries and 150 Path Representatives covering all areas of the Chilterns. The Area Secretaries are the absolute corner-stone of the Rights of Way Group, taking responsibility within their part of the Chilterns for the Group’s core activities, the effective monitoring of paths and of open access land through our local network of Path Representatives, taking the appropriate action to resolve any reported difficulties about their condition, examining and responding to proposals to create, divert, or extinguish paths, and seeking improvements to the path network.

The Group currently has one Area Secretary vacancy, which it is very anxious to fill, covering the parishes of Amersham, Ashley Green, Chesham, Chesham Bois, Latimer and Little Chalfont.

If you feel you could be interested in this vital role and would like to discuss the possibility, without needing to make any initial commitment, please contact Brian Lawson on 01494 815814.

Kind regards

Jenny Gilmore
