Jubilee Planning Steps Up a Gear

It’s all hands on deck in Ley Hill as the Jubilee celebrations take shape.

It’s just one month until Monday 4th June and the committee are hard at work fleshing out the attractions and making sure that all the essential behind the scenes work is done.

We have lots of local groups representing the area, including the pubs, the cricket and golf clubs, Scouting and Guiding groups and the village primary school.  Also there on the day will be classic cars from throughout Her Majesty’s reign, vintage bicycles, tractors and a bus.  To keep the children (and the young at heart) happy there will be inflatable assault courses, the ever popular Kid’s Zone and a full school fete!

No need to pack a picnic, with two barbecues and a pig roast (vegetarian options will be available).  If you get thirsty in the blazing sunshine, the Crown and the Swan will be open all day, as will the cricket club and for a classic English tipple, the golf club are running a Pimms tent on the common.

Teas and coffees will be served in the Memorial Hall, just up the road, and you’ll have the chance to peruse the History Zone – an 18 month project which draws together text and artifacts showcasing the rich past of Ley Hill and the surrounding area.

The event opens at midday and there will be displays through until 5pm, from groups such as Chessvale Dog Club and the Chesham All Girls Band.

Later on, outside the pubs we have two local bands and the ever popular Ley Hill Luvvies, with their unique take on the last 60 years.  If you have the energy to join us for the grand finale, we’ll be lighting the beacon at 10pm and crowning the event with a stunning firework display.

It promises to be a day to remember so mark it off in your diaries and calendars now!  You can view the programme online here>>>…
