Ley Hill Leggers – 210 Miles in 3 Days

Local resident and business owner, David Hurst is raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research in memory of his mother-in-law who passed away at the end of last year.  Leaving Leeds on Friday morning with team mates Mo & Helen Ellis-Jones and Nigel Hoff (headmaster of Ley Hill School), they are set for 3 days following the line of the M1, returning to The Crown public house in Ley Hill on Sunday evening.

David says:

“We leave the home of Leeds Rhinos (Headingley Stadium) at 8-8.30am this Friday and cover 212 miles in total. None of us have ever cycled that number of miles before in 1 day, so doing it on 3 consecutive days will be a challenge indeed.  Arrive at the Crown Ley Hill around 6-7pm on Sunday evening, after which there will be a charity pub quiz to help the 2 causes: Headway (Leeds) and Leukaemia/Lymphoma Research.

Our team logistics partner (Helen) broke her scaphoid 10 days ago but undeterred is now taking kit from each of the 3 start/stop points on trains, buses and taxis and with 2 small boys in tow!!   That’s Leeds to Mansfield Woodhouse, MW to Rugby, then Rugby to Ley Hill – a feat in itself!!”
